The Obion Fire Department
Obion Fire Department is a group of 18 volunteers from our town and the surrounding areas. We also have 5 junior fire fighters that are mentoring with us. We currently provide fire coverage in a 73 square mile area of Obion County Tennessee. We are fortunate enough to have the use of a 2005 pumper with a 1,000 gallon tank, deck gun, foam induction system, dump tank, and ISI Viking SCBA tanks. We also have a 1985 pumper with a 1,000 gallon tank, deck gun, dump tank, and ISI Viking SCBA tanks. Our third pumper is a 1965 pumper with a 750 gallon tank, front mounted pump, dump tank, and is used as our brush truck. We have a 1,500 gallon tanker which provides water supply in the rural areas. Obion Fire Department works in conjunction with nine other departments in Obion County to provide mutual aid response for manpower, equipment, and water supply when needed. In addition, OFD provides Emergency Medical Services to the approximately 1,100 residents of the town of Obion. We have 4 EMT level responders and 3 EMR level responders who provide basic medical services to our residents until an ambulance can reach them. These services include First Aid, CPR, Basic Life Support, and monitoring vital signs. These responders are a real asset to our residents as valuable minutes can tick away waiting on the nearest ambulance to reach them. Our Fire and EMS crews are supervised by Chief Josh Holdeman, Assistant Chief Kane Stacks, Captain David Tidwell, Captain Susie Evans, and Captain Josh Gegg. It is our desire to provide the best service possible to our protection area. We could not do this without the selfless volunteers who give of their time and risk their lives to save others. We would like to thank each of them for their service and to thank their families for allowing them to pursue their passion to serve their community.
